The Divine Wine Emporium is a unique wine purchasing experience. Although the Emporium showcases wine and accessories, beer and spirits are available as well but receive much less emphasis.

The concept of the Divine Wine Emporium is to provide customers a comfortable atmosphere where they can sample and learn about a variety of wines, from different vineyards all around the globe.

Original print ads, framed artwork, a stone fireplace, and antiques all add to the unique ambiance of this one-of-a-kind wine shop. Over 700 varieties from many vineyards are available, and special orders are welcome as well.

Ken Turcotte, Proprietor and Wine Educator

A native of Connecticut, Ken graduated Northeastern University with a degree in psychology.

Ken is the wine consultant and owner of the Divine Wine Emporium and Learning Center. He has been in the wine profession for over 37 years. He began his career as a distributor representative for over 25 years, and now brings his passion for wine to fruition with his innovative wine shop and learning center.

Over the years he has been recognized as an accomplished wine and spirits professional. As a wine educator, he has designed and taught basic and advanced wine courses in his classroom over the past twelve years since starting his business.

Ken has achieved his W.S.E.T. Advanced Wine Certification from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island and is a Certified Specialist of Wine with the Society of Wine Educators, also achieved at Johnson & Wales University.

The Divine Wine Emporium showcases a variety of wines from around the globe, as well as local selections. Our staff is here to help you with your wine selection, offering suggestions based on taste and price range and food pairings.

If there is a specific wine you are looking for, wines that aren't in stock can be special ordered. We are able to order in any wine that is available in the state of Connecticut. Feel free to call ahead or just stop by!

What sets us apart is our state of the art tasting cabinet, custom designed and built for our shop. We always have wines available to sample from in our unique tasting unit, open daily. Our staff looks forward to introducing you to new wines, as well as getting a feel for your preferences so we may better assist you in finding the perfect wine.

We Offer Tastings, Seminars & Courses

What sets the Divine Wine Emporium apart from other wine shops is our emphasis on wine education. Adjacent to our shop, the Learning Center is a classroom in which we educate and open the doors to the world of wine. Our classroom holds over 50 people and is where we host various seminars, tastings, and classes.

Tastings and Seminars

The Divine Wine Emporium is proud to showcase some of the worlds best wine makers, vineyard owners and importers from around the world.Our programs are free to attend, but the seats fill up very quickly! With the exception of July and August, educational programs are ongoing throughout the year. Our educational programs are free and open to the public. Its a fun and educational way to spend an evening! Programs are announced via e-mail, then here on our site. You may also call anytime to obtain information on upcoming programs.


Wine 101 and Wine 201

The Wine 101 course is a three session course designed to teach the fundamentals of tasting and evaluating wines. Students will taste four styles of wine in each session. Thee is focus on food and wine pairings and comparison of new and old world styles. Topics of discussion include wine preservation, cellaring, restaurant wine service, stemware, wine taint, screw caps and closures, decanting and the aeration of wine. Learn how vineyard conditions and winemakers' techniques impact finished wine and understand the concept of "terroir".

The Wine 201 course picks up where Wine 101 left off. Each session focuses on sharpening your wine skills. There are aroma workshops, varietal comparisons, a seminar on blending, and focused on matching food and wine. This advanced course is limited to 12 students due to the intensity of the course.

Currently Wine 101 is a fee of $100 and Wine 201 is a fee of $145. Enrollment includes your admission, all wines to be tasted and all classroom materials.


During all of our classes and seminars, cheese and crackers are available when other foods are not offered.

We also showcase many unique wine related gifts, such as wine racks, corkscrews, bottle decor, books and more!

Our accessory loft features not only a wide array of gifts, but our unique corkscrew display! We have been avidly collecting rare and antique corkscrews and openers for over 20 years, and we are proud of our unique collection. Some openers date back to the 17th century!

We carry a large assortment of gift bags and boxes that cater to any style, from vintage pop art to elegant velvets, as well as styrofoam wine shippers to protect your gifts. If a bag or a box isn't enough, we also make custom gift baskets!
